A lavish mansion with a chandelier that costs as much as a small apartment has sold for over $ 4 million.
ONE of Brisbane’s biggest homes – with a chandelier that costs as much as a small apartment – has sold for over $ 4 million.
Two decades after the Chandler mansion was built, retired builder and developer Domenico Casagrande and his wife Lucia sold their iconic property, setting a new record for a home sale in the suburbs.

Spanning 1,200 m² under the roof, the lavish house at 303 Archer Street features five bedrooms, six bathrooms, a porte-cochere, marble floors, a characteristic staircase topped with a domed ceiling and a $ 200,000 Swarovski crystal chandelier.
There is also a 1200 bottle wine cellar, a commercial size kitchen with cold room, a billiard room, a heated swimming pool and a garage for 12 cars.
McGrath Bayside Manly sales agent Joseph Lordi said the property had been sold to a local family, who planned to make it their forever home.
“They wanted a statement at home,” Lordi said.
“They had never considered Chandler… they were looking at Ascot, Hamilton and other acreage areas.”
Mr Lordi said the suburb is starting to attract more interest from buyers wanting statement homes in an area close to the city – and at a relatively affordable price for what you got.
“It’s very tight,” he said.
“There are only about 500 properties in Chandler, and only less than 20 sales per year.
“I think the average retention rate is 22 years.”

The house was built in 1999 and has been kept in immaculate condition.
The master suite occupies almost half of the upper floor and includes two separate walk-in closets, a kitchenette, a gym and a huge bathroom adorned with emerald green marble.
A huge balcony from the master bedroom overlooks the enclosed grounds of the estate which includes a private orchard.
“There are only a handful of houses like this in Brisbane,” Lordi said.

“If you picked it up and put it in Ascot, you’d pay around $ 9 million for it.”
Records show that the previous highest sale in Chandler was for a property at 652 London Road, which reached $ 3.85 million in October last year.
The median price of homes in the suburbs is $ 1.45 million, according to real estate researcher CoreLogic.
