Bergdorf Goodman, retailer Tony Manhattan renowned for its stunning window displays, has once again gone above and beyond. Flooded with over seven million Swarovski crystals, Bergdorf’s 2015 holiday windows along Fifth Avenue celebrate Swarovski’s 120th anniversary and the release of a lavish Rizzoli monograph documenting the company’s history and collaborations distant in the fields of fashion, jewelry, performance and design.
The theme of the showcase, rightly so, is “Brilliant Holiday”. A display case, titled “The Crown Jewels,” features crystal-embellished armor and life-size lions in a huge jewelry box lined with red velvet. In “The Treasure Chest,” a monumental sculpture of Neptune wrapped in Swarovski pearls presides over a pelagic fantasy so alluring that no mermaid, even Disney’s Ariel, would ever consider leaving the depths.

Three fashion designers – Johnson Hartig of Libertine, Naeem Khan and CD Greene – contributed Swarovski’s ornate looks for the window displays, and the store’s lounges are adorned with dazzling chandeliers by design maestros Michael Anastassiades, Tord Boontje, DB Kim and Yves Béhar.
The windows were christened on November 16 by Nadja Swarovski, Linda Fargo (legendary Bergdorf taste designer, fashion scholar and contemporary surfer) and David Hoey, senior director of visual presentation at BG, who designed the breathtaking display cases. Awesome indeed.
